James T. AREDDY (艾华添) is an American journalist who has been posted to Shanghai, Hong Kong and New York.

Areddy reported from Shanghai for The Wall Street Journal and its sister publications between 2002 and 2020, when China's government expelled him along with a group of other American correspondents. Mr. Areddy began reporting for the U.S.

newspaper and Dow Jones & Co. in the late 1980s and has written stories for many sections of the Journal and its affiliate publications. He has appeared on radio and television and spoken at universities.

During his over 25 years in Asia, Mr.

Areddy covered China's emergence as an economic juggernaut and world power. Mr. Areddy's reporting included travel throughout China and many other countries to gauge the global impact that the world's most populous nation was having on business, politics, security, society and the environment.
